Attend an all-candidates meeting and ask a question

Most election campaigns will have several all-candidates meetings which provide a forum for individuals to ask questions of all the candidates in a “townhall” debate format. These are usually advertised in local papers or on candidate websites.

Ask well-framed questions in an all-candidate meeting to raise the public profile of our issues with candidates and voters. Public participants who choose to ask a question will have about 30-60 seconds to ask their question. Make note of the answers to your questions and if you are unclear on something, you can usually follow up with the candidate or a member of their campaign team after the meeting.

Sample question

My family is impacted by food allergy, a life-threatening medical condition that directly affects over 3 million Canadians, and thousands in our own community. While our family is careful to avoid the allergen, this is a complex medical condition that requires constant vigilance, community support, and access to medical care when required. Food Allergy Canada and the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology recently proposed a comprehensive strategy to reduce the incidence of food allergy, improve quality of life for those affected, and prevent reactions requiring emergency treatment. If elected, will you commit to supporting the National Food Allergy Action Plan?
