faclogoOur new French websites
Food Allergy Canada is very pleased to announce the launch the French versions of our main website and of our Newly Diagnosed Support Centre (NDSC) for families who are newly diagnosed.  The links are allergiesalimentairescanada.ca for the main page and www.soutienauxallergies.ca for the NDSC. Thanks to all who worked hard to make this project a reality!

Summer of TAG
This summer, racecar driver Alex Tagliani has teamed up with Food Allergy Canada, with the support of Pfizer Canada (Canadian distributor of EpiPen®), to educate about food allergies through community events, racing and a very special cross-Canada food drive for families in need. On July 14, Alex and his car will visit Toronto’s Yonge and Dundas Square to meet fans and collect food bank donations. Races and community events are happening throughout the summer. Fundraising events
The Tenth Annual Sean Delaney Golf Tournament took place on May 16 at the Magna Golf Club in Ontario. It was a special day that included golf, dinner and a live auction – to benefit the food allergy community and help continue to support groundbreaking research working towards a cure at McMaster University. Our special thanks to the Delaney family for their hard work and their steadfast support of our community.

On April 30th, the Robyn Allen Memorial Event raised $23,000 for our Newly Diagnosed Support Centre. In addition to tennis, dancing and an allergy-aware dinner, awards were presented. The Robyn Allen Memorial Leadership award was given posthumously to Chef Neal Noble, an early and longtime volunteer of our organization whose support formed a vital cornerstone of our organization. The Allan Reynold’s Volunteer of the Year award went to co-leaders of the Toronto Anaphylaxis Education Group (TAEG), Sarah Nicholl and Marni Halter.

Pryde Family Travel Grant
This year’s winners of the Pryde Family Travel Grant were Mark Tenn and Kerstin Killer. Mark received a grant towards travel for the 8th Annual AllerGen Research Conference, where he was invited to share his research. He is a Master of Science graduate student working in Dr. Anne Ellis’ laboratory at Queen’s University. Kirstin will use her grant to attend the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Annual Meeting in 2017. She is a Study Coordinator at Sainte-Justine Hospital as a member of Dr. Phillippe Begin’s allergist team

Our Annual Community Conference
This year, our Community Conference was held on May 28th in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia. The audience enjoyed Dr. Watson’s update on allergy research, Dr. Kapur’s presentation, dispelling myths around food allergy, and hearing from experts during panel discussions on food labelling, managing allergies through the ages-and-stages and dining out. As always, our youth workshop was especially popular and included games, sharing stories, support, information and ‘a few laughs along the way’ according to moderator Dylan Brennan. Thanks to all who presented and participated in this special conference.
