What is the session about: Dr. Ben-Shoshan will discuss the role of epinephrine and the importance of using it during anaphylaxis. In this interview style session, he’ll walk you through the research behind why epinephrine is underutilized and what can be done. Review the signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction, and learn what role, if any, antihistamines have during a reaction.
Who is speaking: Dr. Moshe Ben-Shoshan who is a physician in the division of Allergy/Immunology at Montreal Children’s Hospital. Among other accomplishments, he has established the largest cross-Canada registries that collect data on the diagnosis and management of food allergy, anaphylaxis, drug allergy, and primary immunodeficiencies; and his research has resulted in more than 90 published manuscripts. His research interests include anaphylaxis, chronic urticaria and immunodeficiency. He is also a member of the Healthcare Advisory Board for Food Allergy Canada.
Jennifer Gerdts, Food Allergy Canada’s Executive Director, will be discussing this topic with Dr. Ben-Shoshan, allowing for an interactive and fulsome conversation.
