As you may know WestJet announced last fall that they were reviewing their current allergy policy – specifically regarding carrying stock epinephrine auto-injectors (EpiPens®) on board.
They have now recently updated their policy on their website stating that they are no longer carrying EpiPen® auto-injectors on board any of their aircrafts.
Food Allergy Canada is disappointed to learn of this decision.
We have drafted a letter WestJet expressing our concerns and requesting that they reconsider this policy change, and extended an offer to work with them on this important issue.
If you have any questions or concerns, please visit the WestJet website or call their guest relations line directly at 1-888-937-8538.
As always, Food Allergy Canada recommends that all individuals with food or other serious allergies carry their own epinephrine auto-injectors at all times, especially when travelling.
