Celebrating Sabrina Shannon’s Spirit
In celebration of the 10th year anniversary for Sabrina’s Law, Food Allergy Canada provided funding for the Young People’s Theatre to give two young actors scholarships for YPT programs in the 2015-16 season.
Sabrina, a creative soul, was a great fan of the YPT. Her parents Mike and Sarah, as well as all of us at Food Allergy Canada, are happy to report that the students have enrolled at YPT for fall and we will keep you up to date when their shows are launched!
Allergy Pals and Allergy Allies
Our ever-popular Allergy Pals and Allergy Allies programs are starting up for a fifth session this fall. They include eight weekly, one-hour online support sessions for two groups of kids, ages 7-11 (Allergy Pals) and ages 12-15 (Allergy Allies). Sessions are led by older peer mentors with food allergies, under the guidance of a youth program coordinator using safe and secure online meeting tools.
The next session will run from the weekend of September 19/20 – November 7/8, 2015. The registration form will be available on Friday, September 4th at 9:00am (EST). Participants will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis and sessions fill up fast! Registration information.
The 2015 Sean Delany Memorial Golf Classic: A Great Success
On June 8th, 2015, the 9th Annual Sean Delaney Memorial Golf Classic raised more than $550,000 in support of Food Allergy Canada!
Over the past nine years, this event has raised more than $3.3 million dollars to support Food Allergy Canada’s education initiatives and studies undertaken by the McMaster Research Centre on Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis. A few examples of some recent Food Allergy Canada initiatives supported by the tournament include: the development of our new website, an online learning course for educators, and a special program for families with children newly diagnosed with food allergies.
On behalf of the team at Food Allergy Canada (formerly Anaphylaxis Canada), we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the organizing committee as well as friends, family, and colleagues of Sean Delaney and all who participated. Read more.
