May is Food Allergy Awareness Month in Canada and we are encouraging Canadians to participate in our “Know it. Treat it.” campaign. This campaign is about de-mystifying anaphylaxis and empowering all Canadians to “Know” what the signs and symptoms are and how to “Treat” anaphylaxis. Hear first-hand from Canadians across the country about their anaphylaxis stories and learn from their experiences. Our goal is to have all Canadians feel confident in managing anaphylaxis.
Living with a food allergy and the risk of anaphylaxis, a serious allergic reaction that has the potential to be life-threatening, can be unpredictable. Since reactions can happen despite best efforts, it’s important to recognize the symptoms of anaphylaxis and know how to treat it with epinephrine, the first-line treatment for anaphylaxis.
