Sesame Allergy Alert: Silver Hills Bakery bread products now contains sesame

Silver Hills Sprouted Bakery products now contain sesame as an ingredient. Their products previously had sesame listed as a “may contain” on their ingredient labels.

The following products are impacted by this ingredient change:

BREADS:

  • Little Big Bread
  • Omegamazing
  • Soft Wheat

BUNS:

  • Hamburger Buns
  • Hot Dog Buns

Read the ingredient label on all products each time to ensure they are safe options for you and/or your family, as product formulations can change at any time.

The following information is noted on Silver Hills Bakery’s website:

“You will notice a change to our recipes and all of our Silver Hills products now contain sesame seeds and/or sesame flour. (Packaging changes will flow through in the first half of 2023; some packaging will state May contain sesame until the transition is complete).”

If you have any questions or require further information, please contact Silver Hills Bakery directly at 1 888 853-6466.

Advocating on your behalf

We have reached out to Silver Hills to better understand why this change has been made. We are committed to ensuring Canadians with food allergy have access to safe food choices and that they are made aware of labelling changes that impact their product selection.

Swallowing diagram

Do you or someone you know experience symptoms like these when eating: difficulty swallowing, feeling like food gets stuck and/or stomach pain? Perhaps it takes longer to eat or there’s a need to drink lots of fluids during mealtimes? If so, Eosinophilic Esophagitis or “EoE” may be the cause.

Register now for our webinar “EoE in adults: From diagnosis to treatment” on October 11th. In this webinar, you will learn about EoE in adults, including symptoms, diagnosis, and current and future possibilities for treatment.

If you’re interested in learning more about Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) before the session, please visit foodallergycanada.ca/EoE
